The Berkshire Trolley once ran here where Goodrich Park stands today. The abandoned right-of-way granted to the Berkshire Street Railway on March 20, 1902, and a right-of-way for a gas line to the Berkshire Gas Company on June 14, 1965. The trolley ran from 1902 to 1930. The old trolley bridge stone abutments can be seen to the left of the footbridge and on the other side of the river. The first viewing bench on the Mary V. Flynn Trail sits atop the abutment. The little building at the beginning of Park Street was the trolley ticket office. Historic photos provided by Jim Moore.

Also located at the end of Park Street in Stockbridge is the trailhead for three outstanding trails: Laura’s Tower, Ice Glen and the wheelchair accessible Mary V. Flynn Trail. I have seen bald eagle here flying over the Housatonic River while on the bridge. Additional parking behind Stockbridge Town Hall follow the trails thru Laurel Hill Park as these connect.
