Trail maintenance on the Round Top Hill trail in Chester on Round Hill Road, a Hilltown Land Trust property which the Hilltown Hikers are land stewards. Posts for new kiosks are up! This mountain is the highest in Hampden County and is special in so many ways, the birds, unbelievable amount of high elevation vegetation and wildflowers and Unkamit’s Path, the old Native American foot path runs across it. Russ and I find our Zen everytime we go up! The fire road, orange blaze is an easy trail, Unkamit’s Path, white blaze is challenging and steep with some rock scrambles, with long views 10 minutes up! Found two pieces buried of red yarn from John Murphy and Henry Warchol’s journey blazing Unkamit’s Path in 1964, as they used yarn initially to blaze! #hikethehilltownhistory
