The Watson Tannery in Otis mid 1700’s. Watson lived in the house near the tannery, the original burned down in the 70’s. The pond across Lee-Westfield Road is named Watson Pond, his namesake. A Phelps lived on Chandler Rd, and a road on the west part of Watson Pond is Phelps Rd. In the 1920’s the original dam was there then but not kept up. This entire area of Otis, including Church Hill was the site of the first settlers. Its also where the Huckleberry Trolley Line went thru later. #otisma
