Near the the original Newell Brother’s Quarry, and spur of the Huckleberry Trolley Line, is the Joseph Newell Homestead, the barn was still standing back in the 70’s we were told. The quarry and home date back to the very early 1900’s. At 1785 feet of elevation in Otis, the views were grand. The Lee Westfield Road was one of the first turnpikes to get settlers to Lee 11.25 miles away.
