Because #themountainsarecallingandimustgo ! Mount Shatterack from Lower Russell Road. Park at the pull off at the sharp bend, the initial trail up is steep but short….then you see the view and you keep going and it keeps getting better! This trail is part of the white dot Unkamit’s Path that runs along the Shatterack and Tekoa ridge. Take a quick 30 min walk up or hike the entire ridge 6 miler. Glorious views to Hartford, Mount Greylock, Peru, Round Top Hill, the village of Chester and Blandford too! Still my personal favorite and the birthplace of Western Mass Hilltown Hikers in Russell! ????? stars!
