Much of Hilltown Hiking is history hiking, an outdoor giant museum. We love to pull out the old maps and photos and go back to those same spots and picture it how was it once was in the 1800’s. On the Chester and Becket Railroad Trail you walk right by a pit, wood lined, the CB Railroad runs over it. Before the railroad this was a mining cut, you can see the lower road as well as the upper used during mining here. The Railroad trestle was built much later on to carry the train over the mining cut. Photo from chester history (donovan)
