Join us for an adventure to a unique glacier melt outdoor museum. Located between Mount Gobble and Gobble Mountain in a gorge where massive waters rushed through the canyon as the glacial ice melted on its way to the West Branch of the Westfield River. Rocks were caught up in this melt in pockets under the glacial sheet, these pockets carved bowls in the rock. The potholes here are both vertical and horizontal, there are five in total in this specific area. The largest pothole is over one hundred feet in diameter. This is one of the most fascinating places we have been! Hike is short and moderate, the gorge area to see the potholes and hike in them and around them is difficult. Uneven footing and loose rock, requires some technical hiking including bouldering and very good footing. Not recommended for the occasional hiker.
