Re-live the history of the 1874 flood. A three mile hike with rolling terrain, medium difficulty, some stream crossings and fields, mostly wooded. Trailhead on Skyline Trail, Middlefield (gps 42.380851 -73.042801). PLEASE NOTE we are carpooling from Middlefield Town Hall 188 Skyline Trail, Middlefield, MA  01243.  Visit the remains of the Goose Pond dam that gave way and flooded Factory Village and its mills in July 1874. Hear about efforts to re-build the reservoir in the 1930’s, 50’s and 70’s that came to naught. Optional visit to the lower reservoir dam site in Factory village. 

This is a special event with our host Alec Gillman, Regional Interpretive Coordinator, to narrate our journey.
