Group Hike on Gobble Mountain in Chester on the Highlands Footpath

Parking on Hampden Street in Chester at the Chester Becket Railroad Trail Kiosk

Join us for a 4.5 mile journey across the unique ridgeline. A challenging hike winding through majestic cliff faces topped with lush overgrowth and New England Hardwoods. The path goes up a fairly steep incline. There are a few ups and downs
(mostly ups) on the way to the beacon tower on the Nature Conservancy preserve. We will pass interesting rock formations and a few small ponds. The view from the top of Gobble Mountain is a panoramic of Chester Village. The decent from the top is steep, passing large boulders.
This is a special event with our host The Highlands Footpath to narrate our journey.

Parking is at the Chester Becket Railroad Kiosk on Hampden Street in Chester. The trailhead is across Route 20. We will spot a few cars at the end of the Beacon Trail on Middlefield Road.
Be prepared for water, rocks, roots and mud on the trail. Maps and bottled water will be provided. We hike rain or shine. Friendly dogs are welcome! Please Register (per carload) on https://westernmasshilltownhikers.ticketleap.com hike is free, donations are appreciated!
