Coldspring Road aka “ye trodden path” following in General Knox’s footsteps in Otis and the Noble Train of Artillery to Sandisfield with Tom Ragusa on the weekend he passed on this very route January 11th. Knox traveled past the “west gate” present day Coldspring/route 23 up the road past the new Allen Williams crafted granite marker, the Free Meeting House Cemetery where evidence of the trail follows and then turns left onto Gibbs Road, the original road to Sandisfield passing several survey points, Webb cellar hole and 4th division line to Upper Spectacle Pond. A quarry here off Webb Road was used to build the dam between Upper and Lower Spectacle.
