A BIG thank you to Shawn proprietor of Walker Island Campground private property on the Chester and Becket line for a tour of this half mile section. Walker Brook and Route 20 were re-routed on this section when the new Route 20 was built in order to make it more straight and also after damage of the 1936 flood. Walker Brook was dug out here to reroute. Looking at the old surveys you can see what a treacherous way up Jacobs Ladder it once was! Route 20 bridge abutments remain where the road crossed Walker Brook. The campground upper road is the railbed and lower is old Route 20. A cattle crossing was located in the middle of the campground as well as two culverts in great condition.
