Combining Hilltown History with winter outdoor recreation for a snowshoe and ski on the Chester and Becket Railroad near the Mitchell switch. Stone culverts on this abandoned line were made from “Chester Blue” granite and pink granite too, only a five mile spur of the Boston and Albany this Railroad was a mighty feat, building the line through the rocky Walker Brook valley serving many quarries, charcoaling, and two emery factories along the way.
