Solving the mystery of Chester and Becket Railroad bridge 413 in Chester at the big bend, I went with Russ armed with the old railroad survey and photo of the old railroad bridge.  A complete re-route of the Lee Road (then called) now Route 20 and Walker Brook happened in 1893.  The one thing I never did was jump the gaurdrail between road and Walker Brook, right there 5 feet from the new road bed was abutments from old bridge 413 and still evidence of the railbed with scattered granite from the quarry, also the old bridge under route 20 where Walker Brook once flowed.  This goes back to the days of the dirt road Jacob’s Ladder and now you can see what the first autos actually faced here, even MORE of a twisty, curvy dangerous crazy road!
