Mount Everett is the highest peak in the southern Berkshires, partly in Mt. Washington and Sheffield with a summit elevation of 2,624 feet 2nd highest in the state.  It is part of the Mount Everett State Reservation, in the warm month’s the road is open with parking at the junction of Guilder Pond and the Appalachian Trail.  It’s a short 1 miler uphill hike on the old road or the AT to the shelter and open spectacular views. Hike another half mile up to the true summit on the AT to see the old fire tower base.
