Our end of summer hike on the Money Brook Falls Trail from its start at the end of Hopper Road in Williamstown for a six mile in and back was challenging! The first mile of the hike follows an old woods road that soon parallels Hopper Brook, one of the coolest places on a hot day in Williamstown. Before long, Money Brook’s waters converge with Hopper Brook, and a bridge carries you across the stream before you head left and begin hiking more seriously uphill. After a small stream crossing or two, we picked our way through a technical talus section before following the brook on a narrow trail above the waters below. The trail went downhill steeply, and then up — and a brief spur lead us to the cascading falls of Money Brook. This hike is most definitely challenging, starting out nice and tame and finishing with 900 feet of elevation.
