Negus Mountain in Rowe, with all the towering mountains along the Mohawk Trail this one leads you straight up with 900 feet of elevation in a short mile with views of Mount Greylock. We took the ridge trail from old Tunnel Road in the Bear Swamp wilderness. The Mountain’s name is pronounced “knee-gus.” Some call it the “big little mountain” due to its surprisingly rocky summit and respectable height of 1,773 feet.
