LARGEST GRANITE SAW IN STATE AT CHESTER

The Chester Granite Quarries, Inc, is installing on their property below the railroad station in this town a circular saw for sawing granite. This is the largest saw for the sawing of granite that has yet been installed in this state.

The saw itself is 144 inches in diameter and will saw a block of granite 15 feet, 6 inches in depth at the average speed of three inches per minute. The material fed to the saw is all automatic. This new equipment is operated by three electric motors and a 50 horsepower Fairbanks & Morse fuel oil engine.

It will mean lowering the cost of production of granite and by doing so increase the volume of business which will mean employing more men as it will, without doubt, reduce prices and create more work for expert workmen in finishing the work up. The saw will be helpful in producing a better class of work.
