One of the more intense projects during the historical restoration at the Chester Granite and Polishing Works was pulling the shot elevator belt out of the pit under the saw blade.  Digging it out of the muddy pit carefully, we laid it out on a tarp, with multiple people lifted it out of the wet hole where it was rotting.  The shot elevator recycled the metal shot pellets from the slurry that was sprayed at the granite which cut the massive blocks while being guided by the saw blade.  We have just about all the cups from the belt and it is on display at the cutting building.  Thank you to the volunteers who made this happen!
