HILLTOWN HISTORY Hiking on the Chester and Becket Railroad in Becket Easterly from present day Quarry Road to the Cushman Railroad steel truss bridge at Cushman brook. Driving up Quarry Road from Route 20 look to your left and see the old railbed which crossed here and continued on its way up the steep Walker Brook Valley to the Mitchell Farm. Cushman Road was the early road when Quarry Road did not exist as the Railroad took precedence. The railbed is intact except where the culverts have given way and some artifacts can be found along the way.
