At the Becket Quarry, you walk apon the C& B Railroad, Turners Switch is where you park. In 1898 the Chester and Becket Railroad was built to bring granite to the finishing mills in Chester, it was also used to transport emery as some mills were along the route. In1902 the railroad was extender farther up in the hills to the Bowe Quarry in Otis. There were two switch-backs, Mitchell Farm and Turners. IN 1927 the quarries started to use trucks, in 1929 trucks took over completely. The Railroad received $50.00 a car for hauling the granite. Before the closing the Quarry, long lines of Box Cars were stored on the Chester and Becket Railroad in Chester. The Railroad was abandoned in 1935.
