The main quarry site at the Becket Quarry had 10 derricks at one time and quarried over 20,000 tons of Granite brought down on the Chester and Becket Railroad to the finishing mills in Chester at the Chester Granite and Polishing Works.  The Becket Land Trust reconstructed the derrick you see today at the pit edge.  The water is approximately 80 feet deep and filled with cables, steam shovels and other equipment.
