The Pittsfield State Forest woods on the Taconic ridge have many claims to fame Balance Rock, and Berry Pond, the highest natural body of water in Massachusetts, and the summit’s wide view west into New York State, but the azaleas are among the rarest 65 acres of azaleas. We made it a point to catch them at the right time in mid-June this year where the hillsides near the summit were a sea of deep pink flowers. This is Berry Hill at Pittsfield State Forest, like no where else!
