The Mohawk Trail State Forest boasts 30 of the state’s 33 tallest trees and 17 of the tallest trees of the champion species in Massachusetts. This includes many of  the tallest of their kind in New England, the Northeast and even east of the Mississippi River in some cases.  Saturday we had the honor of attending the Old Growth Trek Milestone Hike narrated by Mr. Bob Leverett and Mohawk Trail State Forest Ranger Christian Drake, co-hosted by the Old Growth Forest Network for a tour of several old growth stands. This is just one of the excellent educational programs offered by Christian, with many more to come! See the schedule attached, also on the DCR website. https://www.mass.gov/locations/mohawk-trail-state-forest  Learn more about Old Growth Forests https://www.oldgrowthforest.net/ma-mohawk-trail-state-forest
