John Purbrick, Goose Pond Cabin Caretaker and Hilltown Hikers Member!  I met john at least 10 years ago when he came to our Wright Memorial Forest Hike in Chester.  The Upper Goose Pond Cabin is owned by the National Park Service and managed by AMC volunteers, with overnight accommodations exclusively for AT hikers. The cabin has six double bunks, sleeps 15 hikers, a covered porch, and two outhouses, and is open May through October when a volunteer caretaker is present. We hiked in on the Appalachian Trail to give our friend John Purbrick this week’s caretaker, a visit! John spent the week before with us at our Indian Hollow Camp Out Event in Chesterfield. Stephanie and Cybill stayed the night as part of her section hike on the AT and helped John with chores at the cabin like getting spring water.  Pancakes are served here each morning! Thank you to the AMC and the National Park Service for conserving this area for all to enjoy!
