Wilburs (not so clear) Clearing. Arriving as a young man from Rhode Island, Jeremiah Wilbur (1753-1813) was the first European to settle on Greylock. Clearing land for crops and livestock, Wilbur built a farm that became part of a small community of related families, many from his home town. He and much of his family are buried on the mountain they came to love at Mount Greylock State Reservation get to Money Brook Falls from this trail, day use parking on Notch Road.

We spent an entire weekend at Mount Greylock State Reservation hiking Mount Prospect, Prospect Mountain, Mount Williams, Money Brook Falls, Wilburs Clearing, the Old Summit Road, Deer Hill Trail, Rounds Rock and camped out at the Deer Hill Shelter. Learning about and exploring this highest elevation mountain in the state is truly an amazing experience. Don’t forget to stop in to the Visitors Center!
