Windsor State Forest, 1,626 acres of heavily wooded hilly land with a small section in Savoy, in 1924 Courtland Bishop and Kelton Miller, publisher and owner of the Berkshire Eagle donated 25 acres of land known as Windsor Jambs and the site of the former Bush schoolhouse and potions of the DeCelles Farm. Over the years, more land was donated and in the 1920’s it was one of the few state forests used for recreation. In 1933 CCC Camp SP-9 COMPANY 115 was established here to build roads, do forestry work and improve the Windsor Jambs area with picnic areas. They then expanded to the Clear Brook Area. In 1935 a log dam with masonry piers was built at Steep Brook across the Westfield River to create a swimming hole. The town also improved the local roads to get here including a 45 foot truss bridge. In 1937 the CCC Camp was turned into a campground.
