Another waypoint point found along the Huckleberry Trolley Line in Blandford. The Lafayette Camp was set up for the immigrant workers and engineers near the trolley diring construction. Also, they needed grazing land and open space for the massive amount of horses and oxen used during construction. Looks like all the old homesteads in this area were used for camps during construction. The historic photos of the camp are actually the Nye Family (Welcome) homestead. The barn cellar hole is still entact. Nelson Nye was the last owner of the house pictured in 1912. We also found the petition to discontinue this road known as Welcome Nye Road.
