When the leaves are down the H Newman Marsh Trail in Chester offers up tremendous views of the mountains and the rock and moss pops. Its 700 feet of elevation gain, a one mile climb along a well blazed trail with custom stone work. It also includes a stream crossing on boulders. We climbed the entire trail up until it intersects with Mica Mine Road. We found a cache just before the stream crossing. The Memorial trail loop is a winner at the top with three amazing vistas, today we were heading to Unkamits Path section #5 which is shown on the DCR map as the mica mine trail. #hikethehilltowns with the #westernmasshilltownhikers #visitchestermass
