The Hartnett-Manhan Memorial Forest a New England Forestry Foundation conserved property in Easthampton/Southampton has a short trail to the Manhan River with mineral collecting for the rock hounds. It is one one of the largest and most productive lead mines ever discovered. This abandoned lead mine may have provided bullets for the Revolutionary War. It is believed that patriot Ethan Allen was once employed there as a lead miner. Among rock collecters it is known as the Loudville Mine.
