The Hampden Emery and Corundum Co. was a busy factory in Chester on the railroad. The raw stone was dropped here by rail and ground to make the grinding wheels. There were several buildings including the main factory which still stands today. Behind the old factory were more buildings and a road to the Chester Roundhouse and Coal Tower.
