Group Hike of Chester Becket Railroad Tour July 24th at 10:00am

Parking: 10 Prospect Street in Chester, Ma 01011 
Hike Rating: Easy 5 mile loop   


 Join us for a tour of Chester and it’s rich railroad history narrated by Dave Pierce of the Chester Railway Museum! We will follow the Chester Walking Map on blacktop and stop at several points of interest to learn about the early days when Chester was a booming railroad town including the Granite Saw, Truss Bridge, Lucy the Locomotive, Blue Caboose, Chester Jail, Pease Store, Pink Granite bridge, Walker Brook and an exclusive walk through inside of the infamous Riverside Inn. We will be in the woods on the Hampden Park Trail, and the Chester Becket Railroad Trail.  View Round Top Hill and Gobble Mountain along the way.  The railroad museum will be open after the event.  Chester walking maps will be handed out to all participants.  Outstanding food and drink can be found within walking distance of the Railstation:  Carm’s Restaurant and Classic Pizza/ Blue Note.  
Let’s go back in time to discover the Hilltown of Chester  
 Park and meet at the Chester Railway Museum. Plan for four hours hike/walk time. We will be on blacktop and trail with easy terrain.  Maps and bottle water will be provided. More details are on Facebook and the website. Friendly dogs (leashes for the blacktop) are welcome!
